meet Ms. Salas:
Hello! My name is Elyana Salas, and I am the ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) teacher for Godley Station in the Savannah Chatham County Public School System. I built this site to help inform teachers and students about available resources for my English Language Learners.
Prior to moving to Savannah to pursue my education, I lived in New York City. I was born and raised in New York City, but Savannah has treated me very well and the South's weather has certainly spoiled me. My parents are from the Dominican Republic, and I am deeply rooted in the Latino culture. I love to learn about different cultures, languages, and places of the world. I get excited about diversity, and provide a positive and inclusive learning environment to all of our students.
I graduated from Armstrong State University with a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education (K-5) in 2012 and I am also E.S.O.L. endorsed. This is my 8th year of teaching. I was chosen as Godley Station's Teacher of the Year for the 2020-2021 school year! I love blogging about education and motherhood, photography, exercising, traveling, cooking, dancing, spending time with family, and enjoying life's little moments. I am the mother of a beautiful two year old boy who keeps me very busy when I am away from the classroom. He is the light of my life and the inspiration that keeps me going every day.
Teaching is my passion, and I truly love what I do. My vision is to teach your child to love and respect themselves, others, and their school. I am absolutely thrilled that I get to guide your little one through the English language this year, and help them as they build a solid foundation of knowledge that will be with them for the rest of their lives. I am all about having fun while teaching, and have every intention to raise the bar for ALL students in my classroom. I do have high expectations for, both my students and their parents, so I look forward to building a positive relationship with you all to ensure academic success for your child. Our days and weeks will be filled with many wonderful experiences and opportunities for learning and growing, and I look forward to sharing them with you all!

meet ms. hendrix
Hello! My name is Geneva Hendrix and I am the ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) paraprofessional for Godley Station School.
I have lived in Southeast Georgia my entire life and was born and raised in Statesboro. I grew up in a farming community that has inspired a great love for the environment and our interactions with it. This has led me to be active in conservation and climate change issues. I recently moved to Savannah and this will be my first year working with ESOL students. I am excited for this next adventure and cannot wait to see what I will learn from my amazing students.
I graduated from Georgia Southern University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology and a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Philosophy. These disciplines encouraged me to question how things are and why they are that way. I feel that this has led to me being a very open-minded person and willing to learn about things outside of my comfort zone. I am currently working toward receiving my teaching certification. My goal is to one day teach K-5 STEM classes.
Outside of the classroom, my time is mostly spent with family or at home with my dog. I am an avid crafter and am currently working toward building a small business selling my projects. I also love to travel and experience cultures outside of my own. So far, I have gone to the Bahamas and to the United Kingdom. My next travel goal is to visit Greece!
Working with children is my passion and my life’s work. I believe that an educator’s job doesn’t solely lie in teaching facts and figures. Our true job is molding students into independent and successful humans. Therefore, compassion and empathy are paramount. Many children come to us with barriers, whether physical and mental, and my job is to teach them that they can surpass those barriers with faith and hard work. No child is incapable and every child deserves support and understanding.
